Today, it is 21 June 2025, and this terrible war between Israel and Iran has entered its ninth day. Just imagine, nine days, when every morning begins with the fear of a new attack, and in the evening you just wonder what the night will bring. There is no hope of a ceasefire in sight, and the biggest brunt of this is being borne by the common people – those who have no fault in this war.
Fire raining from the sky and dreams scattered on the ground
The attacks are not stopping at all. Israel says that it is targeting those Iranian bases where the nuclear program is going on, such as Arak and Natanz. Their effort is to stop Iran from making nuclear weapons. On the other hand, Iran is also not backing down. They have fired missiles at Israel, damaging a medical building near Tel Aviv and hitting nearby apartments. Imagine how your home, your safe haven, can turn into rubble in an instant. A child may have lost his toys, a family its memories.
Innocent people are losing their lives on both sides in this war. In Iran, so far, 600 people have been killed and more than 2,000 injured in this war. These include civilians as well as security personnel. 24 people have lost their lives in Israel too. Every death, every wound is not just a statistic, but the shattered dream of a family, the cry of a mother who has lost her child, the desolate childhood of a child who may have lost his parents.
A heavy burden on everyday life
War is not just fought with bombs and bullets, it also takes a toll on people’s pockets and their future. Israel has to bear about $725 million (approximately ₹6300 crores) every day on military expenses alone. Imagine, how many lives would have been improved if this money was spent on people’s welfare! Trade has also come to a standstill. Our Indian rice exporters have also suffered losses, as rice ships to Iran have stopped. When the economy falters, the common man like us suffers the most – rising prices, fear of job loss and an uncertain future.
Nuclear alarm bells
This war has created another big threat – attacks on nuclear facilities. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has warned that there is a risk of “radiological and chemical contamination” inside Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility. This means that if these bases are damaged, radiation can spread, which will not only affect today but also the future generations. This is not just a fight between two countries, but a big warning for the entire humanity.
World's concern and rays of hope
Big countries of the world are worried about this situation. The President of America has said that he will decide in the next two weeks what his role will be in this war. Countries like France, Russia and China are also appealing to both the sides to maintain peace and implement a ceasefire. The United Nations has also condemned this war and said that if it increases further, no one will be able to control it.
Our India is also expressing deep concern over this situation. We have safely evacuated more than 500 Indian students and citizens from Iran by running “Operation Sindhu”. This shows how terrible war can be, when people have to leave their homes, their studies, everything to save their lives.
This war is not just a battle fought on a map. It is putting the lives, dreams and future of millions of people at stake. All we can hope for is that soon there will be a solution, and a new dawn of peace, where no mother lives in fear of losing her child, and no child sees his home being destroyed.
What do you think about this situation? Do you think a ceasefire is possible soon?
